Lila's Room

I figured I would share a few pics of Lila's room. Purple is probably my favorite color so what other color would I paint my future daughter's room but "Crocus Petal". Her room has been painted for over a year and slowly I have ordered stuff here and there but the fear of jinxing the adoption kept me from going crazy. We also did not know how old Lila would be so I set up the crib and the daybed Grandma Jenny had given to us. So the room for almost 2 years has been Jake and Cade's train room , bed storage and catch all closet. As soon when we found out about Lila my friend's coworker (due in July with first baby) was cribless and was so happy to take our crib and new baby girl bedding. I was just as happy to see my boys crib appreciated and know a new little baby would be using it soon enough. We just picked up her dresser 6 hours before Pam's elusive e-mail so I have christened it my lucky dresser and have vowed never let much dust collect on her magical surface! So my little Lila's room is coming together I am planning on getting a small bookcase for her great books and girlish things!!!

Here is the "lucky dresser". You have to believe that after waiting so long for a referral. The funny thing about that is that the dresser was ready to pick up for 3 weeks, but we could never seem to get over there to get it.

Lila's first quilt

Theresa ,a very dear friend, made this quilt for Lila Febuary of 2007( still can't believe how long this process has been). This was Theresa's first attempt at quilting and she did just a beautiful job. Lucky for Lila Auntie T threw in a pillow as well. I plan on taking them with us to China for her and possibly me for all the plane, train and car rides I fear in our future. This is such a specail gift that she will always treasure. Which reminds me of my dear friend and college roomate. We will call her ... Ann. Ann has kept (atleast a tattered piece) of the baby quilt her Mom made her until this day. Needless to say it has seen better days but always was loved. Ann's Mom made a little pillow with the tiny remains of the "blankie" sewn in the center. I hope she doesn't mind me telling this story. I love you ANNIE!

Above is also a beautiful lavender knitted blanket Gigi made for Lila Christmas 07 . I love it and it matches her Crocus Petal walls!

PA!!!!!!!

We found out yesterday that China has Pre-approved our adoption of Dang Ai Ling soon to be Lila on April 25th 2008. I must say I was relieved to hear they think we are good enough for her! This is just another important milestone we need to on get her home! I had so much fun yesterday posting it all over the yahoo groups that we had a little girl( You are not supposed to post any info on your referral until you recieved youre PA)! Now on the the next step. Come On LOA!!!!!

We have a daughter!!!

Well after 2yrs after starting this process we can finally say we have daughter. In the wee hours of April 17, 2008 I received a strange e-mail from my agency "Jen are you awake?". Well that got me thinking, why would Pam send me an e-mail to ask me if I was awake is there wasn't something very important she wanted to ask me. Our agency is 2 hrs behind us and so I had to wait 4 hours until they opened. So I paced around got the boys ready for school and the watched the clock. Finally, they open and I stare at my e-mail praying for a message, but 4 minutes pass and nothing. I give her an extra 6 minutes just to get herself together and pick up the phone , voice mail! UGH! Hour passes finally call her partner, this whole time trying not to get my hopes up. Well Pam won't be in until later because she had to take her Mother to the doctor. UGH. Of course she can't tell me what she wants. 2 hours pass and race to pick up Cade from school and make it back to my phone. I can't take it anymore and call back and yes Pam answers. I proceed with caution and ask her about the curious e-mail she sent me. She said well I wanted to let you know that you are a MOMMY!! Ofcourse I am in disbelief so I can't remember word for word but I got the basics. What was funny is that Scott usually doesn't pay much attention to whats going on in the process but I had let him know about the strange e-mail and he must have called 3 times to ask "Did you find out anything?". So I immediately called Scott and we opened her picture together and there she was our little Lila! She was born Dang Ai Ling on November 10, 2005 and is in Shaanxi Province China. We were so excited to get to this step. I can't tell you how hard it is to wait see your child's face and 2years was about all I could take.
